A Lafayette, Indiana man purchased a $30 DVD player from Walmart last week and was surprised to find a DVD inside of the machine after he unboxed it. Assuming it was a recruiting DVD for those space rebels from the Last Star Fighter, the man eagerly played the disk. To no one’s surprise, it was hardcore porn.
Travis Lively purchased the player to watch DVDs after enjoying a romantic Valentine’s dinner with his sweetie. When he went to insert a DVD into the tray, he found a DVR with the words Black Crack Attack #2 followed by six x’s written on the disk. For those of you unaware with the x-rating system, XXXXXX is commonly referred to as Ultra-Porn and requires the viewer to be at least of the age 75 to legally view.
After watching the movie “for a few seconds” and confirming it was indeed hardcore pornography, Lively laughed it off. With nobody including Walmart or Lively giving any fucks, the entire incident resulted in no actions being taken.
The device he bought was factory sealed and showed no signs of tampering, which means somebody at the manufacturing end had to have inserted the video. While the obvious answer is a quality control technician enjoying the shit out of his job and using porn to test sample machines, I have an alternate theory.
When I was a kid cereal boxes came with actual prizes inside. They were shitty, but they were mine. Maybe it was a plastic Barney Rubble toy that hugged the outside of my bowl, excitedly watching me eat my fruity pebbles, or a plastic spoon that changed color and released carcinogens when submerged in cold milk. Like the low quality, 25 cent toys that dictated all my meal decisions, included pornography could be the key to selling mass amounts of consumer electronics in a crowded, competitive market.
