Our guest today is a global brand recognized the world over for not only starring in top notch smut but for her impressive political run for Governor in the state of California in 2003. Mary Carey was born in Cleveland, Ohio but at age 7 she moved to Florida, and to this day Florida is really where Mary calls home. Mary’s parents were dysfunctional and her early years were Topsy-turvy until her grandparents legally adopted her. She studied ballet for many years and graduated from a private prep school and she went on to join a dance team in the theater department at Florida Atlantic University.
Her ballet training must have been helpful because Mary began exotic dancing and quickly made a name for herself as a top tier entertainer. Mary partly credits her entry into the world of adult film to Xcitement Magazine, a 20-year publication that focuses on the exotic dance circuit as well as pornstar interviews. Mary appeared on the Howard Stern show (The first time of many appearances) in 2001. Shortly after, in 2002 Mary shot her first scenes with Acid Rain (Hello Mitch!) and after relocating to Los Angeles in 2003 Mary signed an exclusive contract with Kick Ass Pictures.
After signing with Kick Ass. Mary announced her Gubernatorial bid for the office of Governor for the fine state of California. While many did not take her seriously, Mary showed she was more than just a pretty face – Mary finished a respectable 10th place in the election in a field of 135 candidates. During this time Mary Carey received national exposure and appeared on countless mainstream television shows. She even appeared on Fox News, a fact that many thought might have resulted in Rupert Murdoch’s head exploding.
In 2006 Mary’s mother jumped from a 4 story building. This set in motion a period in which Mary began taking Xanax as a means of coping. She describes using the medication as a sleep aid. In 2009 she appeared on VH1′s reality series Sober House with Dr. Drew andshe now claims to be on the right track and drug free.
Mary has stopped doing adult films for the past two years to concentrate on her mainstream career as well as finishing her tell-all book. She just completed the writing for the book and is currently shopping it to publishers with the help of a very high-powered literary agent. We are sure it will be a sexy fascinating read! Mary tells MB what her plans are for her future in adult film as well as advice to budding starlets just getting into the industry.
