Scandal at the Miss Universe pageant? It can’t be. But even a so called ‘scandal’ on the beauty pageant circuit proves to be somewhat anticlimactic. The Miss Universe contestants’ latest photo shoot had some of them topless with nothing covering those shocking nipples but body paint.
Strangely though, the photos (the first 3) are remarkably less sexy than the Miss USA lingerie shoot from this past March where Miss USA contestants were dressed in lingerie and posed on a bed in a shoot that looked like a cross between Playboy and Maxim.
Not all Miss Universe contestants chose to model topless, some were more comfortable with their bikinis firmly in place. An event planner that has worked with Miss USA contestants had this to say about the shoot:
“By bringing nudity into the equation, it no longer becomes a package of ‘beauty and brains. Rather, this focuses it on body image. What kind of message are we sending to young girls?”
Color us surprised. We had no idea that the Miss Universe pageant didn’t focus on body image. And now for the bathing suit round.
