Realizing that there weren’t enough lesbians in the world to turn their threesome fantasies into an unpaid reality, scientists tried to figure out how they could turn straight females into lesbian ones. They started with mice. And they succeeded.
The scientists found that by removing a single gene at the embryo stage makes female mice ready to get their kink on with other female mice. The modified female mice also turned down the advances of the male mice. Half of the modified female mice cut their hair short while the other half took great pains to fit the feminine ideal with lipstick. The short haired mice then scoffed at the lipstick mice and muttered something about gender roles and society. The lipstick mice countered with a hand in the air and, “If I wanted to be with someone who looked like a man, I’d date one.”
Professor Chankyu Park of the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology in Daejon, South Korea, who led the research, said: “The mutant female mouse underwent a slightly altered developmental program in the brain to resemble the male brain in terms of sexual preference.”
The removed gene, named FuckM (a perfectly named lesbian gene), influences the levels of oestrogen to the brain. Scientists believed that by deleting it the female mice were exposed to extra oestrogen. But while oestrogen makes female mice more masculine it seems that it doesn’t have the same effect on humans.
Back to square one. When we asked the scientists if they were going to continue, their voices were tinged with disappointment, “Fuck it. We’re getting hookers.”
