Even after seven seasons and a ton of brutal deaths, we will never forget The Walking Dead‘s Shane and Lori. While Rick Grimes found himself comatose in a hospital bed, the two began an affair that would eventually threaten to tear the entire Grimes family apart. Now it seems that there’s actually a bizarre story behind their intense Season 1 sex scene. Jon Bernthal explained:

I had this idea that when we met in the woods, I should turn Sarah over. We’re in a zombie apocalypse. It’s carnal. We just want to fuck, you know? And I hear calling from behind the monitors: ‘Stop thrusting!

Jon Bernthal recently spoke to GQ about his role as Shane on The Walking Dead (the role that ultimately made him a household name) and it’s an utterly bizarre story. Seeing the relationship between Shane and Lori as a very “carnal” and primal one, Bernthal turned his co-star over and approached the scene in a very physical and forceful manner. Sex scenes are nothing new in the realm of television, but the one shared between Shane and Lori in Season 1 of The Walking Dead became instantly notable for the sheer intensity and aggression depicted — even the crew felt the need to call them out for it while filming.

I liked it. I stopped watching The Walking Dead after the first season, but I remember that sex scene and it was hot.

Let’s talk about period sex! Why you should do it & how to make it less messy!

I’m a fan.

Researchers from two universities in Italy and Bell Labs decided to take a crack at answering this hugely important question by looking at data from Tumblr and Flickr, both Yahoo properties. They published their results to the arXiv preprint server last week, and the research was also presented at a conference earlier in the year. Their surprising conclusion: Tumblr has a lot of porn, while Flickr, not so much.

To get this result, the researchers looked at anonymized data from 130 million Tumblr users and 39 million Flickr users. They then analyzed the accounts to identify producers (people who post original pornographic content on their page) and consumers (people who follow these users). There was also a third group: the “unintentionally exposed.” That is, people who don’t follow producers or reblog them, but follow others who do.

Honestly I thought their would be more porn on Tumblr. I’m a little disappointed.

  • I wish I quit watching The Walking Dead after season 1

    • I tried season 2, but I couldn’t make it past the first episode.

      • They repeat the same story elements over and over and nothing on the show makes sense

        • But the show had such a stellar first season.

          • Some of the other seasons have been better than the first. But it’s the little things that start to add up that make the show bad

          • Maybe I should watch more seasons then? I don’t know. There are too many things to watch.

          • You can find better things to watch than The Walking Dead. Like Bob’s Burgers. Watch that.

          • I wasn’t able to get into Bob’s Burgers. It’s weird, because every time I see a clip I find it hilarious, but don’t ask me to sit down and watch a full episode.

          • :O How can you not like Bob’s Burgers?

          • It’s not that I don’t like it, it’s just that I never feeeeeel like watching it.
