In an attempt to bring attention to last year’s catastrophic oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico the Surfrider Foundation in Europe, whose mission is to protect our oceans and coastlines, has put out a calendar featuring models wearing nothing but oil bikinis.
The photos are rather stunning in a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition kind of way. The oil bikinis were a great marketing idea, although I found myself wishing oil wasn’t so opaque….if you know what I mean.
This sexy oil bikini calendar will wet your appetite, but I find it a little ironic that a foundation who claims to be all about protecting the ocean would purposefully add more oil in the ocean. Sure, it makes for hot sexy pics, but seeing all that oil wash off those tone bodies into the water is a little jarring considering the context and seem more than a little counterproductive.
Whether this venture will help recruit volunteers to the Surfrider Foundation remains to be seen, and although the year is more than half way done, I’m sure these calendars will be flying off the shelves and will promptly make their way on to the walls of pimply teenage boys and dirty mechanics. Meanwhile the rest of you can enjoy these beautiful shots right here on Peeperz.
