While most men need little more than a 30-second commercial for Vagisil to become completely erect, female arousal is a little bit more complicated. Scientists are on the case and when they aren’t throwing millions of dollars at a device that can electronically induce female orgasms, they’re looking for other ways to improve levels of sexual arousal in women.

As it would turn out, the answer may lie in apples. Hmm!

A recent study published in the Archives of Gynecology and Obstetrics found that women aged 18 to 43 who ate at least one apple a day reported better “lubrication and overall sexual function” than women who don’t. Fuck keeping doctors away- an apple a day keeps your vagina in play.

The study was conducted on sexually active Italian women who responded to a questionnaire about their sexual function, frequency, orgasms, and vaginal lubrication. I’d be really interested in reading those.

Researchers used this information to calculate a Female Sexual Function Index score, and then compared the scores of apple eaters to those who never eat them.

According to a totally reliable image I found Instagram of scientific-looking text imposed over a blurry picture of a tree, apples contain polyphenols and antioxidants that can stimulate blood flow to the vagina therefore increasing sexual arousal. Other foods that share this characteristic are red wine and chocolate which are already well known for increasing one’s chances of getting laid.

Apples are also high in phloridzin, which is a naturally occurring chemical that’s remarkably similar to the female sex estradiol. This hormone plays a huge roll in vaginal lubrication and female arousal which could be why eating apples makes vaginas dampen like a dog’s nose on a hot day.
